This is sooooo simple, that I can not believe that we didn't come up with it sooner.  It simply looks for a sharp change in your control position.  If on the next pulse, the new position is still valid, your control surfaces move, if not, the stray pulse is thrown away.  Because your radio sends out about 20 pulses every second, the slow down in the travel will be almost unnoticeable in all but the most dramatic aerobatic flying conditions.
